Gaming on the Web and your Thoughts
Gaming online is one of one of the more profitable businesses in the recent history of the US. Almost every household anywhere and everywhere has played at the very least a single video game. Everquest II, World of Warcraft, City of Heroes, Diablo II, The Sims, and so much more have joined people together in massive numbers to kill off enemies, fight against monsters, villains, demons, and so many more. If there is an imagination for it, there is most likely a game for it too.
this interest in gaming online has made a number of companies very successful. Even in bad economies, the online gaming industry continues to thrive.
Running and creating a successful online game depends on long term loyalty and an extremely strong subscription base that justifies its existence. The Sims Online ran for a good while quite successfully, but lost its subscription base to other online games such as Second Life, and World of Warcraft. The competition is fierce and each and every company will fight to win your dollars, tempting you with the ultimate online experience.
Online games are not just for the computer. X-Box 360 and Playstation 3 have also become apart of the online world offering us the ability to blow up lifelike tanks and kill off huge creatures.
Some games give us the ability to find who is the better gamer by having them fight each other. Like the Highlander, we continue to work while always knowing, that only one can win, will it be you?
Some MMOs remove the game altogether leaving us with only a social network in a world that we make our own. Second Life allows for users to join up for free, and allows you to create whatever you want, and allows for you to give anything in the game a specialized meaning. You can interact with others to create one of the largest networks in the world.
No matter what, Online games are here to stay. Whether we are soldiers of fortune, or just happen to be a social butterfly, Online games give us the ability to reach out and see our imaginations come to life and share them with others in, in our self created online worlds.
